Florence Airport

Florence Airport (FLR) is named "Amerigo Vespucci Airport", serves the famed Italian city of Florence and the beautiful area of Tuscany but is also known by many people by its old name "Peretola" which is the area where Florence airport is located. Many road signs still have Peretola name written on them. It is among the two main Tuscany region airports, the other is Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa.

This airport is small, having just one runway and its main taxiway is located at the rear of runway 05, in an holding/overshoot area at the rear of runway 23. In the year 1990, it was named after an Italian cartographer and merchant, Florence native Amerigo Vespucci. The flights are for mostly Italian cities and few European cities including Madrid, Brussels, Zurich, Frankfurt, Paris, London, and Barcelona. In the end of year 1999 some projects for enlargement and restructuring started, the airplanes parking and other areas and commercial management. Regards quality, in year 2001, Amerigo Vespucci ranked among the 1st European airports to get UNI EN ISO 9001/2000 certification for the amenities it offers. Now it has been expanded and is known as a new airport.

Florence Airport is situated 4km to the northwest of Florence that is positioned on the Arno River & at the Mugello foothills. It can be easily accessed through A1 & A11 motorways (Firenze Nord/Firenze Mare), or from Firenze by Viale Guidoni. Various modes of transportation are available which includes car, car rental, Limousine services, bus and taxi. It is around 25 minutes by car from the center of Florence. Car parks are situated close to the main terminal buildings. Passengers will find short and long-term parking options at Amerigo Vespucci Airport, conveniently located close to the terminals: disabled passengers and drivers will find reserved spaces adjacent to the terminals. It provides ample space for a number of cars to park.
